Novena and Litany to the
Immaculate Heart

Novena to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
(Day After Solemnity of Sacred Heart).

On August 15 we celebrate the Feast of the Assumption.

The novena is quite simple. It consists of these three parts (the prayers are given below):

1) State the intention of the novena.

2) Pray the Magnificat.

3) Pray the Litany of Loreto (or the Blessed Virgin Mary).

Start Novena on Feast of the Immaculate Heart,
16 June 2012, for nine days until the Birthday of John the Baptist on 24th June 2012.

The Magnificat (Canticle of Mary)
(St. Luke 1:46-55)

My soul magnifies the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour; for He has looked with favour on His lowly servant From this day all generations shall call me blessed. The Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is His Name. He has mercy on those who fear Him in every generation. He has shown the strength of His arm, He has scattered the proud in their conceit. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He has sent away empty. He has come to the help of His servant Israel for He has remembered His promise of mercy, the promise He made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children forever. Amen.

O Immaculate Heart of Mary, bearing with love for all thy children upon earth, pray for us who have recourse to thee. Show to Our Heavenly Father the Wound in the Heart of Thy Son and at the same time offer again the sword that pierced thy Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart as thou suffered by compassion with Thy Divine Son for the redemption of the world. By thy intercession, through the merits of Jesus Christ, bring us to salvation. Amen.
